The best of Indian and global architects, designers and cultural experts make their way to the country’s most definitive design week. India Design ID 2025 is poised to be a convergence of intellect and creativity, bringing together preeminent thought leaders for a three-day symposium of incisive discourse.
The much-anticipated ID Symposium from 20th – 22nd February will delve into the intersections of architecture, design, art and technology providing a platform for innovative paradigms to emerge. With a focus on sustainability, heritage conservation and the future of spatial aesthetics, the symposium promises to be a platform for forward-thinking dialogue.
20th February: Heritage with a side of innovation
The symposium’s opening day will explore the delicate balance between our built legacy and modernity, inviting discourse on how traditional design idioms can inform contemporary practices. Renowned architects and scholars like Tarun Tahiliani, Abha Narain Lambah, Shalini Misra and Anica Mann will engage in dialogues on the strategic use of vernacular materials, the art of adaptive reuse, and the ethics of sustainable design.
Following this discussion would be panels on Mindful Design for a Changing World and In Fine Company featuring Prateek Sadhu, Founder and Chef, NAAR at Amaya among other renowned names. The day gets more futuristic with Brian Yang, Architect and Partner, Bjarke Ingels Group speaking about how design can shape the future. Ending the first day of India Design ID 2025 is a panel discussion on our shared Climate Futures discussed by Adam Hudec (Design-researcher and Founder, Dusts Institute), Miguel Leiro (Designer and Founder, Miguel Leiro Studio & MAYRIT Bienal), Ananya Singhal (Managing Partner, Studio SAAR) moderated by Mrinalini Ghadiok (architecture and design Culturalist).
21st February: The futuristic lens
The second day will shift towards an exploration of the avant-garde, focusing on the influence of technology in architecture and design. With the proliferation of artificial intelligence, parametric design, and digital fabrication, this day promises to provoke contemplation on the aesthetic and functional potential of emerging technologies.
In the first conversation on Decoding the ColourNext Forecast, Amit Syngle (Managing Director and CEO, Asian Paints) will expand on what ColourNext means for Indian design, Gunjan Gupta (Founder and Creative Director, Studio Wrap and Ikkis) will speak about its material application, followed by a talk by Mále Uribe Forés, Founder, Studio Mále.
The day’s panels will serve as a crucible for radical ideas, challenging conventional boundaries and redefining the future of the built environment. Be it Architecture for Cultural Flourishing where Kulapat Yantrasast (Founder and Creative Director, WHY Architecture) joins Priya Paul (Chairperson, Apeejay Surrendra Group) in conversation or Nozer Wadia revealing what goes behind architectural praxis with EDIDA-winning names like Kunal Maniar (Founder, Kunal Maniar and Associates), Vaishali Kamdar (Founder, Vaishali Kamdar Associates) alongside Ritu Nanda (Founder, Ritu Nanda Design), you will leave the grounds feeling inspired.
22nd February: The psychology of space
The final day will turn its attention to the intimate relationship between design and the human experience. Salma Samar Damluji, Peter D’Ascoli, Palinda Kannangara, Monisha Ahmed and Nandan Ghiya among other notable panellists will explore the psychological impact of space, investigating how biophilic design, wellness-driven interiors, and sensory environments shape our moods, behaviours, and lifestyles. With a focus on the intersection of hospitality, retail, and residential design, speakers like Palinda Kannangara will unpack how carefully curated spaces can transcend aesthetics to foster a deeper sense of belonging and well-being.
With an unparalleled roster of experts and an array of boundary-pushing topics, India Design ID 2025 stands as an essential touchstone for all those dedicated to shaping the built environment of tomorrow.
